description:
Replicate a photographic reference by replacing patterns of gray with found text.

In order to see images as value and texture, replicate the value structure of a photographic image using found textures. Collect various texture samples from photographic or scanned resources. Gather references from various printed materials, and arrange the texture references in stacks of value from dark to light.

The result should replicate the reference but should produce a highly textured illustration. This assignment should demonstrate that the student understands the relationship color, value and texture has illustrative possibilities.

Criteria:
Replication of the image reference
Technical proficiency
(how well is it crafted?)
Overall presentation
(how professional is the work?)
