This term is utilized to reference "electronic media." The area of eMedia encompasses multimedia, a term originally used mainly for standalone (not online) presentations in various scales as well as hypermedia, which emphasizes interactivity and specifically means the ability to selectively link from one form of content to another.

Objectives

In any Creative Arts Business, you'll learn the essentials of setting up and managing your business. This course is intended to help you navigate through everything from how to present your portfolio, find work, and market yourself, to the more daunting tasks of registering a company name, establishing a billing system, and capitalizing on projects and opportunities in order to grow your personal career.

During class sessions, your active participation is required:

  • critical group discussions and progress
    reviews of project assignments;
  • informal group discussions about design concepts, based on reading and homework assignments;
  • individual discussions, while working on project assignments in the studio.
  • outside the scheduled lecture sessions, plan at least six hours per week for homework, reading and project assignments. Project assignments are sequential and progressive, developing concepts throughout the term.
  • at various times during the quarter, there will be short in-studio exercises coordinated with reading and project assignments.
